Introduction

The role of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) in education is becoming increasingly important in schools and universities around the globe. The Master Program of Instructional Technology will appeal to those wishing to take an active role in shaping the future direction of ICT and Education, through careers in Education, Educational ICT or further research. This course will address the 'why' as well as the 'how' of technology and education, offering an opportunity to combine academic research with hands on experience.

The program aims to:

  • broaden students’ knowledge and experience of a wide range of technologically mediated learning environments and of designing and developing such environments for teaching, learning and communications
  • enable students to research and evaluate the use of ICT in educational and other contexts;
  • provide students with a range of strategies for managing the introduction of ICT into educational settings;
  • develop students’ interest in and knowledge and understanding of wider social and theoretical debates which impact on the use of ICT in education.
